The American Federation Of Musicians is simply a union of professional musicians in the United States and Canada. This group like any other working union serves it’s employees and members in many ways. Some of which being, making sure fair practices have taken place such as fair and proper payment of royalties as well as offering a pension plan to those member who qualify. The American Federation Of Musicians was founded in 1896 by Owen Miller and has been growing strong since. One of the most famous actions taken place that let the American Federation Of Musicians make their mark was in 1942 was a recording ban against the record companies. This action more famously called the Petrillo Ban, banned all commercial recording by its members in order to force large record companies to pay fair royalties and payment to the musicians. A similar ban took place again in 1948. This however, was directly in response to the Taft-Hartley Act, put into place in June, 1947, which referred to the Labor Management Relations Act. The current American Federation Of Musicians President is Ray Hair and the AMF is going strong today, protecting the rights and financial well being of it’s members everywhere.

Is Beyonce’s life really all glamour as assumed? First lets examine the product from its origin. Every success story has a beginning. Some are small and ordinary. Great meals are prepared before consumption. Beyonce had a beginning before she became Jayzee’s bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh or had us singing “All My Single Ladies.” She has to continue the polishing, fine tuning, character building and skill enhancements to stay on top. If great isn’t becoming greater then we have to question how great that greatness is becoming. Greatness requires pain, suffering and long processes in order to achieve levels meant to come from it.

However, looking at the base product, we see the potential to reach the stars or rest in sinking sand. There’s emotional and hormonal peaks and valley’s. There’s bad hair days, crooked business clients, performance preparation and hands looking for compensation for their role in the success. The body goes through physical exhaustion from all it has to do. That’s the product and has little to do with glamour. Glamour is things she can possess, places she can go, people she rubs shoulders with and what she can do that ordinary people cannot.

It is almost a given that there are days she’d rather be fishing instead of rushing from one engagement to another and being screamed at by crowds of people. There are days she probably doesn’t wish to talk to people in her family as close as her parents. There may be days she’d rather be at home sitting in coziness with the love of her life shutting out the world.

Everyone has skeletons to deal with mentally. After mentally dealing with them the person brushes it off and gets back to business. Otherwise, the enemy of our souls uses the occasion to keep us down and unproductive. However, on a more real tip, skeletons known by family members can be most venemous. Michael Vick can testify of that reality. If Beyonce and the rest of us keep the skeletons motionless and in their place by being the best of the best then all will remain well with our souls and glamour can too become our friend.

Before modern plastic guitar picks came about in the early 20th Century, rock and roller’s used bone, wood, metal. In some case’s, musician’s even have used coin picks. But which company makes the most popular one’s nowadays? Dunlap, Clayton, and Fender are all great choices.
Dunlap is a good brand to buy. The Dunlap Tortex, for example, has a long life with four unique edges. Their Tortex Three is an evolved version of this brand, and the Dunlap Tortex Jazz is a smaller pick that improves alternate picking.
Clayton USA is also a great place to get quality picks. Their Ultem picks, for example, are great even when your strings are a little dull. They have them available in standard, rounded triangle, and small teardrop sizes, and is also the pick that’ll most closely resemble the tortoiseshell sound that so many guitarists long for.
Fender also makes a very good guitar pick. They are popular for the heavy ones. The Vintage Fender tort Celluliod Pick, The Fender White Heavy, and the 1970 Fender Pink Heavy are some of the company’s quality examples. Also, their acetal picks produce clean overtones, and have a crisp surface, for when you’re rocking out and getting extra sweaty on stage.

Desi Arnaz, best known for playing the role of Lucille Ball’s husband, Ricky Ricardo on television, and her true-life husband in actuallity, was a man of passion. Seeing him take to the stage, life or in a televised performance, he had charisma and energy that drew people to him. Everyone loved that dark-haired man and his accent that dripped off his tongue. The persona he exuded in public was also a part of his true personality. He carried the spirit of Cuba, a land of turmoil and rich in culture, in everything that he did. As leader of the Desi Arnaz Orchestra, highlighting Latin American music and staying true to his roots, Desi gained an international following. Learning to value life after he was forced to flee Cuba with his family due to Batista’s revolution, he threw that joy into every aspect of his life. Broadway and Hollywood saw him under the lights of show business and he tried his hand with success when creating Desilu Productions with wife, Lucy. Desi loved life, the women in his world, and his children, bringing emotion to all who surrounded him. Desi didn’t waste a moment and shared his spirit with the world.
